Description
Discover the beauty of Phobjikha Valley on a 3-day mindfulness tour from Thimphu or Punakha. Visit Gangtey Goemba, walk the Gangtey Nature Trail, and learn about traditional Bhutanese rural life.
Day 1: Scenic Journey to Phobjikha Valley
Meet your private driver and begin a scenic journey through Bhutan’s mountain countryside. Stop at Dochula Pass to admire Himalayan views and the famous 108 memorial chortens, weather permitting.
Continue through traditional villages, forests, and winding mountain roads toward Phobjikha Valley. Check in to a comfortable guesthouse or lodge and enjoy some time to relax.
In the late afternoon, take a gentle walk through the peaceful surroundings and enjoy the fresh mountain air. Finish with a guided breathing or mindfulness session in a quiet outdoor setting, weather permitting.
Day 2: Nature Trail, Monastery, and Meditation
Begin with an optional gentle morning meditation and breathing practice. Enjoy breakfast at your accommodation. Visit Gangtey Goemba, a historic monastery overlooking the valley, subject to access and local conditions.
Walk the beautiful Gangtey Nature Trail, enjoying open valley views, forest paths, traditional homes, and local birdlife. Take a mindful nature break with quiet observation, breathing exercises, and time for photography.
After lunch, discover nearby villages and learn about traditional Bhutanese rural life. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided meditation or relaxation session led by a suitably arranged local practitioner, subject to availability. Return to your lodge for a relaxed evening and a traditional Bhutanese dinner.
Day 3: Valley Walk and Peaceful Departure
Start the day with a gentle stretching or meditation session in the fresh mountain air. Enjoy breakfast and a final walk through the valley’s peaceful landscapes. Visit the Black-Necked Crane Visitor Centre if open, to learn about crane conservation and the valley’s fragile ecosystem.
During the crane season, usually from late autumn through winter, look for black-necked cranes from appropriate observation areas. Sightings are not guaranteed. Enjoy a final photo stop before departing for Punakha or Thimphu by private vehicle.
