Description

Discover the beauty of the Sucre countryside on a guided day trip. Hike to Cerro Obispo, explore the village of Quila Quila, see ancient petroglyphs, and relax in the Talula Hot Springs.
Meet your guide and depart from Sucre towards the western countryside surrounding the city. Begin the day with a hike to Cerro Obispo, one of the most spectacular viewpoints near Sucre. Rising to approximately 3,600 meters above sea level, the mountain offers breathtaking panoramic views over the valleys, agricultural terraces, and mountain ranges that surround the capital of Bolivia. Along the trail, observe unique geological formations, seasonal springs, native vegetation, and rural Andean landscapes.

Continue by vehicle to the traditional village of Quila Quila, located approximately 26 km southwest of Sucre. The community preserves strong pre-Hispanic and colonial traditions and is known for its adobe architecture, agricultural terraces, and indigenous cultural heritage. Walk through the historic village streets and learn about local traditions, agriculture, and the cultural legacy of the region. Quila Quila is associated with the indigenous Qhara Qhara cultural area and maintains many ancestral customs.

Visit the famous Marka Rumi petroglyphs located near the foot of Telapaqui Mountain. These ancient rock carvings feature anthropomorphic, zoomorphic, and geometric figures that provide insight into the region's pre-Columbian past. The site is considered one of the most important archaeological attractions in the Quila Quila area.

Enjoy a traditional lunch in the countryside, featuring local products and regional flavors of Sucre. Travel through the beautiful valleys descending toward the Pilcomayo River basin. The route offers impressive landscapes and views of remote rural communities. The Talula area lies below Quila Quila and is known for its natural thermal waters.

Spend the afternoon enjoying the natural thermal pools of Talula. These hot springs emerge naturally from underground sources and provide a relaxing experience surrounded by mountains and river valleys. Bathe in the warm mineral-rich waters while enjoying the peaceful natural setting. Finally, drive back to Sucre through the picturesque countryside, arriving in the city in the early evening.
