Escape Sofia for a day of hiking through the dramatic Iskar Gorge, one of Bulgaria's most scenic river canyons.
The trail winds through dense forests, past small caves, and at the edge of abysses. You'll follow the historic Vazov Eco-trail, named after Bulgaria's most beloved poet who once walked these same paths seeking inspiration.
In the middle of the the trail, you'll reach the 85-meter-high Skaklya Waterfall one of the tallest in Bulgaria. Here, you'll enjoy a picnic lunch with a view of the falls, surrounded by the sounds of rushing water and forest birds. Climbing up, we will see the waterfall from different vantage points and rewards ourselves with a meal at a good restaurant in the village nearby the top of the mountain.
Optional extension: For those with more energy and time, you can continue onto the Pod Kamiko loop trail. This adds another hour of hiking and leads to a second, 40-meter waterfall hidden deeper in the forest. Your guide will decide on the day based on group fitness.
The hike is moderate - suitable for anyone with a reasonable fitness level. The terrain includes some steep sections and uneven ground, but the reward is spectacular views at every turn.

Small groups (max 8 people) ensure a personal experience. Transport from Sofia, a picnic lunch, and walking poles are all included.

The optional second waterfall extension depends on group fitness and time. Your guide will decide on the day.
The tour operates in most weather conditions. If extreme weather forces us to cancel, you may reschedule or receive a full refund.
Minimum 2 people, maximum 6. If we cancel due to minimum participants not being met, you will receive a full refund. Rescheduling may be offered as an option.
We offer two convenient meeting points in central Sofia. Please confirm your preferred location at least 24 hours before the tour.
Option 1 - McDonalds by NDK:
In front of the McDonalds restaurant at the National Palace of Culture (NDK). Look for the large glass building with the green McDonalds sign. The guide will be holding a sign with "Iskar Gorge Tour".
