Along the route, you pass the oldest baobab tree in Cape Verde, an impressive natural landmark that reflects the island’s deep-rooted history. The trail gradually leads you toward Cidade Velha, the oldest city in the country and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Arriving on foot creates a stronger connection between the island’s landscape and its colonial past.
The experience concludes at Cabral & Martins, a family-run local business. Here you enjoy a traditional lunch prepared with regional ingredients. Your visit also includes a guided grogue tour, where you learn about the production of Cape Verde’s traditional sugarcane spirit, followed by a tasting.
