Your Hamburg Downtown Tour starts on Spitalerstraße, where you will meet your city guide and get your first impression of Hamburg's lively city center. From here, you'll continue along Mönckebergstraße. Along the way, you will learn how the city center has developed and what significance the imposing office buildings have for Hamburg's history as a trading city.

You will then discover a historic cinema arcade and the Europa Passage before reaching Rathausmarkt. Here, Hamburg's City Hall awaits you—one of the most impressive buildings in the city.

Together, we'll take a look inside the magnificent inner hall of the town hall and then explore the inner courtyard with its impressive Hygieia Fountain. You will learn the story behind Hygieia, the goddess of health and hygiene. The fountain commemorates the cholera epidemic of 1892, which hit Hamburg hard, and makes an important chapter in the city's history visible.

The tour then takes you to the Chamber of Commerce and through the Bucerius Passage. Cross the Rathaus-Schleuse and continue to the Alsterarkaden, where historic architecture and the special atmosphere of the city center come together.
