Begin your tour with a visit to a local women-run craft center or artisan cooperative, such as a women’s weaving, embroidery, or basket-weaving cooperative around the Addis or Entoto slope area. Watch live demonstrations of traditional textiles, jewelry, or pottery, and have time to buy handmade souvenirs directly from the women artisans.

Next, visit the Tiglachin Monument (Derg Monument or “Martyrs’ Memorial”) on Gizhabe (Gyeshi) or Menelik II Avenue, which commemorates Ethiopian and allied soldiers. Enjoy a short guided reflection on the history and significance of the memorial, followed by time for photos and quiet observation.

Stop at a traditional café or coffee house in Addis, such as a place with live coffee-roasting and traditional ceremony, such as those near Merkato or Bole-Ras Mekonnen area.
