Discover the diverse culture and history of Ethiopia on a 6-day tour from Addis Ababa. Visit the National Museum, the Holy Trinity Cathedral, and the Ethnographic Museum. Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Tiya, and see the Dorze beehive-shaped huts.

Day 1: Arrival – Sightseeing Addis (The New Flower)

You will be met upon arrival and transferred to your hotel. Refresh and begin your sightseeing of Addis with a drive up to Mount Entoto for a panoramic view of Addis. Descend down and drive to the National Museum where you will have a chance to spot the oldest hominids of the ‘Lucy’ fossil. Visit and proceed to the Holy Trinity built during WWII. Then proceed to the Ethnographic Museum, which used to be the palace of Emperor Hailesellase. To wrap up you drive to Merkato, the biggest market in East Africa. Overnight in Addis Ababa Nega Bonger Hotel

Day 2: Addis Ababa – Tiya-Arba Minch

After having your early breakfast, drive to the southern parts of Ethiopia on the way you will see the Tiya, classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, where you can see the northernmost example of a peculiar type of engraved, standing stelae which stretch across parts of southern Ethiopia. Continue your driving to the town of Welayta for a lunch stop. After lunch, drive to Arba Minch for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Arba Minch – Chencha Dorze Villages

After breakfast, take a boat trip in Lake Lake Chamo, to visit the crocodile market, it is a local name for a place in Lake Chamo where the crocodiles went out of the lake and chill, there is no buying or selling, also you will see hippos and different kinds of birds later driving to the Dorzy village, these people set high up in the Gughe Mountains where you can see the traditional Dorze beehive-shaped huts recognized as one of the visually attractive structural houses by the UNESCO and later you will be back to Arba Minch for lunch then you will be driving to the town of Konso.

Day 04: Konso – Turmi

After having your breakfast you will have a chance to see the Konso village, one of the UNESCO sites in Ethiopia known for their terracing. One of the best types of coffee in the country is also from this village. Proceed to the Bana village. The Bana are indigenous pastoral and semi-nomadic people living in the harsh environment of lower Omo Valley. The men often have their hair dressed up with a colorful clay cap that is decorated with feathers. Then proceed to the Turmi where the Hamer people live. Overnight in Turmi Lodge

Day 05: Turmi – Omorate (75 km / 2hr drive)

After having your breakfast, you will have an excursion to Omorate to visit the Dassanech people ‘people of the Delta’, who live on the northern shore of Lake Turkana. Visit and drive back to Turmi for lunch then drive to Jinka. Overnight in Jinka Nassa Pension

Day 06: Drive Jinka – Mago – Jinka – Addis Ababa

Take a day excursion to Mago National Park to visit the Mursi village. The Mursi are one of the exotic ethnic groups in Ethiopia. They live in very low huts made of straw leaves. The women like to wear terra cotta on their enormously stretched lower lips and ear lobes. Drive back to Jinka for lunch. Drive to the Ari people, the largest population in the lower Omo valley. The women wearing skirts from the banana-like tree, called Enset are experts in pottery later you will be transferred to the Jinka Airport for your flight to Addis Ababa. In the evening, attend a folkloric dinner where you will have a chance to taste several national dishes and watch dances of the various ethnic groups of Ethiopia.
