Description
True Northern Lights hunt in Rovaniemi with local guide Timo Tapaninen — 100% Money-Back Guarantee, no weather cancellations, small groups (max 8 per car), and professional photography include.
Join a true Northern Lights hunt led personally by Timo Tapaninen — a local, experienced aurora guide who has dedicated 12 years to chasing clear skies across the Arctic.
This is not a simple “wait at one location” tour. This is real aurora hunting. Each night we actively drive wherever the conditions are best — across northern Finland and, when needed, into Sweden or Norway — all to maximize your chances of witnessing and photographing the Northern Lights.
The tour is operated in small premium groups of up to 8 guests per car, ensuring a safe, relaxed, and personal experience. Throughout the journey, you’ll enjoy professional aurora photography, warm drinks, light snacks, and individualized guidance from Timo.
100% Photo Guarantee
If Timo is unable to capture at least one professional photo of you with the Northern Lights during your tour, you receive your money back.
No Weather Cancellations
Unlike many operators who cancel tours when forecasts look uncertain, Timo never cancels the hunt due to weather conditions.
If clouds block the skies locally, Timo (and other guides) simply drives further to reach clearer areas.
Your tour only cancels in the rare case of serious illness of the guide or unforeseen emergency situations.
What to Expect
A typical hunt lasts 6–8 hours, but during challenging nights the tour may continue longer as we follow the best possible routes toward clear skies. Guests should be prepared for a potentially extended evening drive optimized for success.
Children are welcome, but we advise parents to consider whether the late hours and possible long driving time are suitable for their child.
Once we reach a promising location, Timo monitors the sky both visually and with sensitive camera equipment capable of detecting early or faint auroral activity. When the lights appear, he captures professional photos of you and your group using high-quality photography gear — allowing you to focus fully on the experience rather than struggling with camera settings in freezing temperatures.
After the tour, edited high-resolution photos are delivered via a digital download link, included at no extra cost.
Warm drinks and snacks are provided throughout the night to keep you comfortable. Additional stops and routing adjustments are made as cloud cover and aurora activity evolve.
