Description

Visit this exceptional Jardin Remarquable (Remarkable Garden)! A true haven for insects, birds, and wildlife, this peaceful oasis will enchant you in all seasons with its diverse landscapes.
Head to the heart of the Forêt d’Orleans, France’s first voluntary nature reserve, established in 1979.

Visitors stroll at a leisurely pace through a park enveloped in a peaceful silence, broken only by the sounds of birdsong. The various ponds offer refreshing spots, brought to life by an abundance of dragonflies, butterflies, and frogs croaking merrily!

The tour begins in a formal French garden featuring yew and boxwood topiaries, a fountain, and statues. Here, the walk takes place on a terrace covered with rose- and clematis-laden arbors. At its center, a pond adorned with water lilies and surrounded by benches invites you to take your first contemplative break.

As you descend the central staircase, you discover the English Garden, which features islands of shrubs and perennials and is enclosed by a beech hedge. You step onto a natural carpet of short grass. Indulge in the pleasure of walking barefoot on this carpet!

Next, your walk takes you to the Asian section. At its heart lies a lake adorned with a pagoda and a waterfall, from which numerous paths radiate. As you follow these paths made of grass, stone, or oak sawdust, you will discover magnolias, dogwoods, and conifers, alongside Japanese-inspired resting areas. That's it—peace and tranquility wash over you!

Next, you will discover the majestic, three-hundred-year-old Grand Oak, which offers you its generous shade as you make your way back to a path where your gaze is drawn into a carefully curated natural landscape. With its carpets of heather, this path symbolizes the Pacific Ocean: you are moving from the Far East to the American continent.

This heather-covered area is dotted with structures. The banks of the pond are lined with bald cypresses, redwoods, sweetgums, and oaks. A must-see in autumn!

You will end your tour in the rose garden, which exudes a range of subtle and varied scents and is planted in the shape of a labyrinth—be careful, you might get lost in there...
