Day 1: Mountain Highways and Thrilling Adventures

Begin your family-friendly tour with a pickup from your Tbilisi hotel. Leave the city behind and quickly head into the Great Caucasus mountains.

Make your first stop for panoramic photos over the brilliant blue Zhinvali Reservoir. Right next to it, explore the fairy-tale stone towers of the 17th-century Ananuri Fortress, an easy and fun spot for kids to explore.

Next, choose your thrill with optional adventure stops. Stop along the Aragvi River for a fun, safe, family-friendly white-water rafting experience. Alternatively, rent quad bikes to zoom along scenic mountain tracks.

Stop in Pasanauri to taste the most authentic, kid-approved khinkali (Georgian dumplings) and khachapuri (cheese bread).

Climb up to the vibrant Gudauri Panorama (Russia-Georgia Friendship Monument). If the weather is clear and sunny, brave family members can experience tandem paragliding high above the cliffs with professional instructors.

Arrive in Stepantsminda by late afternoon. Check into your family guesthouse, relax, and enjoy a peaceful mountain evening.

Day 2: Icons, Waterfalls, and the Deep Gorge

Enjoy breakfast with a view of Mount Kazbek. On clear, dry days, drive comfortably up the paved road to Gergeti Trinity Church without needing separate 4x4s. Enjoy the crisp mountain air and take iconic family photos.

Next, drive slightly north into the Dariali Gorge and take a short, easy, 20-to-30-minute walk through a rocky valley to the beautiful Gveleti Waterfall. The path is gentle enough for children but incredibly rewarding.

Drive further into the dramatic, sheer cliff faces of the gorge to visit the Dariali Archangels Monastery Complex, located right near the Georgian-Russian border crossing. It is a stunning, peaceful oasis surrounded by massive stone mountains.

Finally, start your comfortable drive back down the mountain highway, stopping for snacks and souvenir shopping along the way. Arrive back at your Tbilisi hotel by approximately 08:00 PM.
