Speyer is really a very special city that you have to love! It is picturesquely situated on the Rhine, offers an impressive old town, and delights with the Kaiserdom, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you can feel the warm South Palatinate attitude to life that welcomes every visitor. You can experience the culture up close, enjoy the delicious local food and relax on a Rhine cruise – there is so much to discover and experience in Speyer!
We start our day with a trip to the spectacular Speyer Cathedral. This impressive, monumental building with its symmetrically arranged towers is a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture. Here, you can soak up the atmosphere and architecture, visit the unique hall crypt with imperial tombs, or explore the tower with its magnificent panoramic view.
Afterwards, we go on a walking tour of the city. With 11 churches in a single city, Speyer is richly blessed in spiritual terms. We will visit the Memorial Church of the Protestant Reformation and other buildings. Be captivated by the unique, varied architecture of these buildings. Be amazed by the works of art inside.
Now you have free time – for example, for culinary delights or a visit to the second World Heritage Site.
We leave the city center and head to the banks of the Rhine. You will take a seat on the excursion boat and enjoy the fantastic views of Speyer, the Rhine, and the Altrhein on a 1.5-hour round trip. After that, we will walk together along the Rhine and then drive back to the starting point.
