Description
Create a unique clay plate using the ancient pinch-pot technique in this workshop. Craft a botanical pattern using leaves, flowers, or branches.
Join a clay pinch-pot workshop and make small clay plates using the ancient pinch-pot technique. This is a very old hand-building method in which the form is created entirely by hand, without using a pottery wheel.
Gradually open up the clay from a small ball through gentle pressure from your fingers and shape it with your palms. After the plate has been shaped and modeled with your fingers, create the botanical pattern.
Use leaves, flowers, petals, or branches, anything that is voluminous enough to leave an impression on the clay. Press the botanical material gently on top of the plate and remove it to reveal the pattern. The pattern stays on the clay surface and will remain there after it is baked.
