Description

On this trip, you will visit the secluded corners of Drogarati Cave, embark on a boat ride through the marvellous clear waters of Melissani Lake, and visit the sacred monastery of Saint Gerasimos.
After being picked up by a luxurious coach, you will be transported to the Agios Nikolaos harbour of Zakynthos island and embark on a vessel to get to Pesseda port of Kefalonia. On the way, you have a chance to catch a glimpse of dolphins, while also admiring the scenery of both islands. Upon arrival, you will firstly visit the famous Myrtos Beach, known all around the world for its unique scenery. Here, you will stop for a while to capture unforgettable panoramic photos of the bay.

The next natural highlight of the island you will see is Melissani Lake, also known as Nymph Lake. The combination of crystal-clear waters and stalactites which are aged tens of thousands of years will certainly take your breath as you take a look at them through a small boat trip around the lake. Another popular cave you will see on this trip is Drogarati Cave. Even though it doesn't have a lake within, it contains stalagmites in addition to stalactites. Apart from admiring the unique geological formations, you can test the great acoustical capabilities of the cave with your own voice.

Afterwards, you can enjoy a lunch of traditional Greek food at a quaint taverna near the sea. Alternatively, you can go for a swim, look at a famous lake located nearby, or view the nearby island of Ithaca, on which the legendary king Odysseus has resided. When the delicious meal is over, the journey continues.

After passing through winding vineyards, imposing mountains and Mount Ainos National Park, you will arrive at Agios Gerasimos monastery. St. Gerasimos is the patron saint of Kefalonia island. The monastery is being used daily, and the nuns will guide you to the holy sites. Some of these sites are the holy relics which used to belong to Ag. Gerasimos and the cave in which he used to live. This experience will enrich you spiritually, similarly to the hundreds of Greek people who embark here on yearly piligrimages.

Finally, you will arrive to an authentic Kefallonian village, where you will visit one of the oldest shops on the island with its own unique atmosphere. You will have a chance to try mandolato - a traditional sweet composed of nougat (sugar or honey whipped with egg whites) and almond.
