Step into Linda's Bottega di Maioliche in Cagli and discover one of the most iconic decorations of the Montefeltro artistic tradition. During this creative workshop, you will make an ornamental terracotta wall plate, personalizing it with the historical "Cerquate" motif using the cold painting technique.

Before you begin, the artisan will take you on a journey to discover the origins and meaning of this particular decoration. The Cerquate are characterized by oak branches, leaves, and acorns and reference the Della Rovere family, who ruled the Duchy of Urbino. The motif became particularly important in the region's ceramic production, becoming a symbol capable of telling the local history through decorative art.

After the historical introduction, you will learn about the materials, colors, and tools needed to create your work. You will observe the structure of the traditional motif and learn how to reproduce it on the surface of the plate, following the artisan's instructions and adapting it to your personal taste.

You will then move on to brush decoration, composing branches, leaves and acorns and experimenting with the color combinations that make this ornament recognizable. No previous experience is required: you will receive assistance during each phase, from the preparation of the design to the final details.

Cold painting does not require the item to be fired. At the end of the workshop, the decorative plate will then be ready to take home. You can use it as an ornamental piece to hang on the wall, keep it as a memento of your experience in Cagli, or give it as a gift as a personal handcrafted creation.
