Description
A tour among waterfalls, black sand beaches, volcanoes, and glaciers, accompanied by a private guide-driver who will tailor the visits to the travelers' pace.
Day 1. Reykjavik – Golden Circle – South Coast
We'll start with a pickup in Reykjavik or at Keflavík Airport to explore the famous Golden Circle. We'll visit Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are pulling apart and where the ancient Icelandic parliament was founded in the year 930.
We'll then continue to the Geysir geothermal area to see the eruptions of Strokkur Geysir, and after that we'll visit Gullfoss, a stunning waterfall that plunges into a deep canyon. We'll then head to the South Coast, with the option of visiting Seljalandsfoss (if this is not possible, a refund is guaranteed), famous for its trail behind the waterfall, conditions permitting.
Accommodation on the South Coast.
Day 2. South Coast – Reynisfjara – Glacial Landscapes
After breakfast, we'll explore the volcanic landscapes of the South Coast. We'll visit Skógafoss, one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the country, and then continue on to Reynisfjara, the famous black sand beach known for its basalt columns, the powerful Atlantic waves, and the Reynisdrangar rock formations.
After visiting the area around Vík, we'll cross lava fields, vast volcanic plains, and moss-covered landscapes. Depending on the season, we'll be able to get close to the Sólheimajökull Glacier or admire the vast ice caps of Mýrdalsjökull and Vatnajökull.
Accommodation in Skaftafell, Kirkjubæjarklaustur, or the Jökulsárlón area.
Day 3. Jökulsárlón – Diamond Beach – Reykjavík
The last day will be dedicated to discovering the spectacular Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, where huge icebergs float on calm waters beneath the landscapes of the Vatnajökull glacier.
Nearby, we'll visit Diamond Beach, a black sand beach where ice fragments create an extraordinary natural contrast. Depending on the season, we can add a boat trip on the lagoon, a visit to an ice cave, or an optional glacier experience.
We will then head back along the South Coast, making scenic stops depending on the time available and the weather conditions.
Arrival in Reykjavik in the late afternoon/early evening. Trip ends.
