From La Spezia: Wine & Olive Oil Day Trip to Bolgheri Castle

Travel through the Maremma region in a private deluxe vehicle and enjoy the changing scenery along the way, from rolling farmland to ancient towers and coastal viewpoints. This experience combines time in one of Tuscany’s best-known wine areas with the flexibility to personalize parts of the day.

Your main stop is Bolgheri Castle, a historic estate dating back to the 13th century and long linked to the Gherardesca family. On arrival, take in the castle’s setting among vineyards, olive orchards, and woodland, and learn about its long history, including later restoration work and the construction of its well-known tower. You can also walk along the celebrated cypress road associated with the poet Giosuè Carducci and enjoy free time to soak up the atmosphere around the estate and village.

Optional experiences can be added depending on your preferences. You may choose a wine tasting featuring Castello di Bolgheri and Varvàra, paired with bread, extra virgin olive oil, prosciutto, and sheep cheese. An optional guided visit of the estate and cellars offers more insight into the winemaking process.
