Next, visit the Atomic Bomb Dome, Hiroshima’s most iconic landmark and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The building survived partially after the atomic bombing and remains preserved as a symbol of peace and remembrance. It is one of the most visited historical sites in Japan and stands as a powerful reminder of the importance of peace.

Continue to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, which provides detailed information about Hiroshima before and after the atomic bombing. The museum displays photographs, personal belongings, survivor stories, and historical explanations. The museum experience is emotional, educational, and unforgettable.

Then, head to Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima, one of Japan’s most famous shrines, known for its giant floating torii gate standing in the sea. During high tide, the shrine appears to float on water, creating one of Japan’s most iconic views. The shrine is especially beautiful at sunset and during autumn leaves season.

While on Miyajima, enjoy friendly deer walking freely, traditional shopping streets, local street food, and beautiful seaside scenery.

Finally, savor Hiroshima’s signature dish, Okonomiyaki, layered with cabbage, noodles, egg, meat, and sauce. Try Hiroshima oysters, among the most famous in Japan, especially during winter, and Anago Meshi, a popular local meal.
