Description

Explore Nagoya’s history on a guided tour. Visit Nagoya Castle, the Shumokucho area, and the historic Residences. Enjoy a lunch break at Kinshachi Yokocho.
Begin your journey at Nagoya Castle, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Explore the castle grounds while learning about its architectural and political significance. Discover the wider sweep of Japan’s samurai era, including the key events and power shifts of the Warring States period.

After the castle visit, enjoy a one-hour lunch break at Kinshachi Yokocho, a lively dining street filled with local restaurants. Choose from a variety of traditional and modern Nagoya dishes (lunch not included in tour fee).

Following lunch, continue by taxi to the serene Shumokucho area. Unlike typical sightseeing spots, this neighborhood preserves a quiet elegance and reveals a side of Nagoya even many residents seldom encounter. Visit historic homes such as Shumokukan, the Sasuke Toyota Residence, and Futaba-kan.

These residences offer a rare glimpse into the lifestyles of influential figures who contributed to the city’s and national early economic development. Their preserved architecture and interiors convey how culture, craftsmanship, and prosperity evolved during Nagoya’s formative years.
