Start your day early to enjoy the tranquil mountain air before heading into the Nara park and master the art of bowing to world's most polite deer.
01. The "Spirited Away" Morning: Ikoma Shoten: The temple features a dramatic backdrop of a massive rock wall (the Hannya Grotto) where Buddhist statues are carved directly into the stone. A long, atmospheric stone stairway leads up to the temple, lined with traditional inns and stone lanterns that create a scene reminiscent of Spirited Away at dusk.
02. The Great Buddha: Todai-ji: Explore the UNESCO World Heritage and stand in the shadow of the Great Buddha, test your luck by squeezing through the 'Buddha’s Nostril'
03. The "Lantern Quest": Kasuga Taisha
Follow the forest path lined with over 3,000 stone lanterns. At the Shrine let's take a look at the "Eternal Dark" Room: it is kept pitch black and filled with glowing bronze lanterns, giving you the magical "festival" feel year-round.
04. Home of the "God of the Novel" in Japanese literary:
Escape the crowds of central Nara for a peaceful stroll through Takabatake. This area is defined by moss-covered earthen walls and the 'Whispering Path' (Sasayaki-no-komichi). Highlighting the day is a visit to the house of a japanese novelist, it's an architectural gem designed for light and cross-breezes, followed by a wander through the forest edges near Kasuga Taisha.

The 1,200+ deer are wild animals, they can be aggressive if they smell food or feel teased.
There are almost no trash cans in Nara Park to prevent deer from eating garbage, please carry a small bag for your own litter.
