Description

Visit two of Japan's historic capitals in one private day, combining Kyoto's Fushimi Inari and Arashiyama with Nara's sacred deer, Great Buddha and UNESCO World Heritage heritage.
Experience two of Japan's most historic cities in one carefully planned private day tour.

Travel from Kyoto to Nara while discovering some of the most recognizable cultural sights in the Kansai region. The itinerary combines Kyoto's famous shrine and traditional landscape with Nara's sacred deer, Buddhist heritage and UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Begin your day at Fushimi Inari Taisha, Kyoto's iconic Shinto shrine. Walk beneath the vermilion torii gates and learn from your guide about Inari worship, fox symbolism and the religious traditions surrounding the shrine.

Continue to Arashiyama, one of Kyoto's most atmospheric districts. Explore the famous Bamboo Forest and enjoy time around the traditional streets and Togetsukyo Bridge. Depending on the timing and selected itinerary, there may also be time to see the distinctive Kimono Forest area near Arashiyama Station.

After Kyoto, travel onward to Nara, the former capital of Japan.

Arrive at Nara Park, where the city's famous deer roam freely. Learn about their cultural and religious significance and enjoy time to observe and photograph them.

Continue to Todaiji Temple, a component of the UNESCO World Heritage property Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara. Discover the Great Buddha Hall and its enormous bronze Vairocana Buddha while your guide explains Nara's role in the development of Japanese Buddhism and culture.

Continue toward Kasuga Taisha, another component of the UNESCO World Heritage property. Walk through the ancient forest landscape and traditional shrine approach while learning about Shinto traditions and the relationship between the shrine and Nara's sacred deer.

Depending on the day's timing, traffic, opening hours and group preferences, the final part of the experience may include time in the historic Naramachi area or another suitable cultural location in Nara.

This is not simply a list of disconnected attractions. The tour is designed around the story of two ancient capitals: Kyoto's enduring shrine traditions and Nara's early Buddhist and Shinto heritage.
