Discover Kampot’s rural charm on this day trip from Phnom Penh. Visit salt fields, La Plantation farm, Phnom Chhngok Cave and French riverside town. Optional kayaking or sunset cruise for extra fun.
Your Kampot day tour begins with hotel pickup in Phnom Penh. Enjoy a 3 to 3.5-hour drive with a rest stop along the way.
Explore the salt fields upon arriving in Kampot. Between November and April, you will see large piles of harvested salt. In rainy season, we switch to rural rice paddy views with karst hills for photos.
Next, visit La Plantation Pepper Farm. Take a free guided tour around the pepper plantation, taste white, black and red Kampot pepper, and shop for pepper souvenirs. You may also relax at the on-site café.
Enjoy lunch in downtown Kampot, where you can try local Khmer dishes including Kampot pepper fish.
Head to Brateak Krola Lake. Admire peaceful lake views surrounded by karst mountains and stop at the hilltop café for photos.
Then visit Phnom Chhngok Cave Temple. This 7th-century Hindu cave temple requires a small on-site entrance fee at your own cost and short walking up steps.
Wander the riverside old town of Kampot. Snap photos at the seahorse statue, old iron bridge and classic French colonial buildings.
There are two optional activities at your own cost, only one can be chosen as time is limited: A. Mangrove kayaking for 1.5 hours (7–10 USD per person). B. Short sunset river cruise for 1 hour (5–8 USD per person; fireflies sighting is not guaranteed and more likely in dry season).
Then depart Kampot for the 3–3.5-hour drive back to Phnom Penh. You will arrive at your hotel to finish this wonderful day trip.
