Description

Spend 5 days in Batshireet village living with a Buryat nomadic family—herd cattle, make traditional dairy, ride horses, and explore the scenic Onon River for a truly authentic Mongolian experience.
Day 1 – Journey to Batshireet Village

Early in the morning, your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel in Ulaanbaatar. Begin your scenic drive toward Batshireet village, located in the birthplace region of Chinggis Khan. On the way, visit the impressive Chinggis Khan Statue Complex.
Continue the journey through forested steppe landscapes and arrive in Batshireet by evening. Meet your Buryat nomadic host family and settle in for your 3-night stay.

Day 2 – Nomadic Life & Dairy Traditions

Morning: Start your day by helping the family milk cows and gather cattle. Enjoy a traditional homemade breakfast with fresh dairy products.
Daytime: Learn how nomadic families process milk into curds, yogurt, and milk skin using traditional methods passed down through generations.
Afternoon: Dive deeper into Buryat dairy culture—learn to identify milk quality and make urum (clotted cream) and local cheeses.
Evening: Help guide the herd through forest paths and join the family in preparing dinner.

Day 3 – Herding Experience & Horse Riding

Morning: Participate in daily chores and prepare your own breakfast using fresh dairy products.
Afternoon: Ride horses across the steppe and help look after sheep and goats. After returning, learn to make traditional Mongolian pastries with your host family.
Evening: Assist in gathering cows and separating calves. For a more adventurous touch, try herding with a motorcycle if conditions allow.

Day 4 – Onon River & Village Exploration

Morning: Visit Batshireet Village and learn about the history and culture of the Buryat people.
Afternoon: Head to the beautiful Onon River. Relax by Yol Lake, an artificial lake created by local rangers. Explore the area, where you may spot ancient burial sites if you look closely. Enjoy optional activities such as fly fishing or simply unwinding in nature.
Evening: Enjoy dinner by the riverside with a campfire experience. Return to the village and stay with a local family.

Day 5 – Return to Ulaanbaatar

After breakfast, begin your return journey to Ulaanbaatar. On the way, visit Uglugchiin Kherem, one of Mongolia’s rare ancient fortress ruins, and stop at Binder Ovoo to see unique rock carvings believed to date back to the Xiongnu period.
Enjoy lunch at a local village along the road before continuing your drive. Arrive in Ulaanbaatar by evening and relax after your journey.
