Begin your trek to the crater, which is about 3.8 km and usually takes 1.5 – 2 hours, depending on your pace. Along the way, you may meet local sulfur miners carrying heavy loads up and down the trail. Always follow your trekking leader for a safe and smooth hike.
As you ascend, prepare to witness the world-famous blue fire phenomenon—a natural wonder that makes Ijen one of the most unique volcanoes on Earth.
