Experience the breathtaking beauty of New Zealand’s Southern Alps on a carefully designed 3-day journey from Christchurch to Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park and Lake Tekapo. Combining alpine scenery, turquoise lakes, self-guided walks, and premium accommodation, this experience offers a seamless escape into some of the South Island’s most iconic landscapes.

On Day 1, your adventure begins with a pick-up in Christchurch before travelling across the Canterbury Plains toward the Mackenzie Region. Travel through picturesque countryside with curated stops at locations such as Geraldine & Lake Tekapo. Stock up on the best locally made sauces, chutney and more, and have a relaxed morning tea/lunch at the Barker's in Geraldine. Follow by shopping along historic Talbot Street. You’ll find boutique and speciality stores offering exquisite hand-made chocolates, designer clothing, botanically distilled gin, fine arts and local crafts including paintings, fabric works and jewellery. Then heading towards Lake Tekapo, a stunning alpine destination in the heart of New Zealand's South Island, renowned for its vibrant turquoise waters and majestic mountain backdrop. It is an iconic stopover famed for world-class stargazing and the historic Church of the Good Shepherd. We will then make our way into Mt Cook village, where you will be checking in at Hermitage Mt Cook, finishing your day with a buffet dinner at Alpine Restaurant.

Day 2 is dedicated to exploring Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park, home to New Zealand’s highest mountain. The day includes a self-guided scenic experience through the national park, your drive will drop you off and pick you up from the walks along one of the region’s famous trails, such as the Kea Point Track or Hooker Valley area, depending your preference. Or enjoy optional activities such as scenic helicopter flights or glacier experiences (additional cost). As evening falls, guests can also choose to experience the Mackenzie Region’s internationally recognised dark sky environment, famous for stargazing opportunities.

On Day 3, the journey continues back toward Christchurch with additional scenic stops throughout the Mackenzie Basin. Guests can revisit Lake Tekapo for further exploration or café time before continuing through rolling countryside and river valleys on the return journey. Or can choose to stop at Fairlie to try a famous award winning Fairlie Pie.

This 3-day experience includes return transport from Christchurch, guided sightseeing throughout the journey, accommodation, 2 buffet breakfasts and dinner, ensuring the itinerary provides a complete and structured traveller experience. While the itinerary follows a carefully planned route, flexibility at selected stops allows the experience to adapt to weather conditions and guest preferences.
