Description
Discover the Mendoza of San Martín: Follow in the footsteps of the Army of the Andes, learn about its key figures, and visit the places where one of the greatest feats for the freedom of South America was conceived.
## Can a city change the destiny of a continent?
Long before the Crossing of the Andes, Mendoza became an important center for organizing the independence revolution. On this tour, we'll follow in the footsteps of José de San Martín and the Army of the Andes to discover how this city in Cuyo became a key setting in the preparation of a major historical campaign for South American independence.
Throughout the sightseeing tour, we'll learn about the places where José de San Martín lived, where his daughter Mercedes was born, and how the expedition that contributed to the independence of Chile and paved the way for the liberation campaign in Peru was organized, step by step.
But this story wasn't the work of one man alone. We will also learn about the key role of the Patricias Mendocinas, Fray Luis Beltrán, the people of African descent who were part of the Army of the Andes, Tomás Godoy Cruz, and many other key figures who took part in the preparation and execution of this historic campaign.
We'll visit historic sites such as Plaza Pedro del Castillo, the Jesuit Ruins of San Francisco, the Casa de San Martín Museum (optional, admission is at the visitor's expense), the historic site where the Liberator planned to build his permanent home, the sculpture of Fray Luis Beltrán, Plaza San Martín, and Plaza Independencia.
This is not a tour of dates and monuments. It is an invitation to understand how an independence campaign was planned, how the Army of the Andes was organized, and why Mendoza occupies a fundamental place in the history of South American independence.
If you're passionate about history and strategy and want to discover the historical sites where one of the most important campaigns of the South American independence movement was planned, this sightseeing tour is for you.
I will also share local recommendations to help you make the most of your stay, and at the end, you will receive a free digital guide with my favorite places to eat, visit wineries, and continue discovering Mendoza.
We look forward to seeing you!
