Description
Snorkel face-to-face with gentle whale sharks in Oslob, swim beneath the emerald cascades of Kawasan Falls in Badian, and witness the spectacular sardine tornado — plus sea turtles — in Moalboal.
Your day begins long before dawn with a comfortable hotel pickup from Cebu City or Mactan Island. As your private, air-conditioned vehicle heads south along the scenic coast, anticipation builds for the morning's main event: swimming with whale sharks off the shores of Oslob. After a short safety briefing and fitting of life vests and snorkeling gear, you'll wade into the warm, glassy water and come face-to-face with the ocean's gentle giants. These filter-feeding giants — the largest fish in the world — are remarkably calm, gliding gracefully just beneath the surface. Your guide stays close to assist with photos and ensure a safe, respectful interaction. The 30-minute in-water experience is one that travelers consistently call the most humbling wildlife encounter of their lives.
From Oslob, your journey continues north to the municipality of Badian, where the multi-tiered Kawasan Falls awaits. Fed by cold mountain springs, the falls flow into a series of stunning turquoise pools framed by dense jungle foliage — a photographer's paradise and a swimmer's dream. Take a refreshing dip, wade beneath the cascade, or simply sit and soak in the scenery. For those who want extra thrills, an optional canyoneering adventure at Kawasan is available as an add-on (cliff jumping, rock slides, and canyon swimming). A hearty Filipino lunch is served at our Badian base camp — grilled fish, pork, steamed rice, and fresh fruit — before you head to the final stop.
Visit to Cebu's southern coast is complete without the world-famous Moalboal sardine run. Just offshore, millions of sardines form a shimmering, swirling tornado that stretches from the surface to the seafloor — one of the most spectacular natural phenomena on Earth. Your guide leads you right into the heart of the baitball as it shifts and pulses around you. Keep your eyes open, too: Moalboal is equally famous for its resident sea turtles, which glide calmly through the coral reefs just meters from shore. Your snorkeling session lasts approximately 90 to 120 minutes, giving you ample time to explore, photograph, and simply marvel. Afterward, you'll board your vehicle for the comfortable return drive to Cebu City or Mactan, arriving back at your hotel by early evening.
