Set out on a music-filled exploration through Belfast’s vibrant streets on the Belfast Music Walking Tour, created by Creative Tours Belfast in partnership with the Oh Yeah Music Centre. This tour uncovers the city’s rich musical tapestry, spanning genres from punk and jazz to pop, traditional Irish, rock, classical, and electronic. As you walk, enjoy a specially curated playlist that brings the city’s soundtrack to life.
Your guide will share stories about legendary musicians such as Van Morrison, Gary Lightbody and Snow Patrol, James Galway, Ruby Murray, and Ottilie Patterson, as well as introduce you to the city’s thriving contemporary scene. The route weaves through key musical landmarks: stop by Kelly’s Cellars, Belfast’s oldest pub; step inside the historic First Presbyterian Church on Rosemary Street - used as a gig venue; and discover modern music venues, record shops, outdoor performance spaces, and a Victorian Music Hall.
The tour begins outside the iconic Ulster Hall, a venue steeped in musical history, and concludes at the Oh Yeah Music Centre in the Cathedral Quarter. Here, you’ll explore the NI Music Exhibition, home to a fascinating collection of memorabilia celebrating Northern Ireland’s musical achievements. The tour will take place in all weather – and Belfast weather is changeable! Please come prepared.
