Description

Escape Manchester and discover the wild Lake District. Visit Wast Water, drive Hardknott Pass, enjoy a guided Langdale walk and explore hidden gems on a small-group adventure.
Leave Manchester behind and discover a different side of the Lake District National Park.

Rather than following the well-trodden tourist route, this small-group adventure explores the quieter western Lakes, where dramatic mountain scenery, peaceful valleys and hidden villages create an unforgettable day out.

Your journey begins with a visit to the charming market village of Broughton-in-Furness. Browse independent shops, grab lunch or snacks from a local café or bakery, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere before heading deeper into the national park.

Next, visit the spectacular shores of Wast Water, England's deepest lake. Surrounded by towering mountains and far quieter than many of the Lake District's better-known locations, it's one of the country's most breathtaking landscapes and the perfect place to pause for photographs.

Continue along the legendary Hardknott Pass, one of Britain's most dramatic mountain roads. Famous for its steep climbs, sharp hairpin bends and incredible scenery, this unforgettable drive also passes the remains of Hardknott Roman Fort, built almost 2,000 years ago to guard the Roman frontier.

Later, stretch your legs with a guided walk of approximately 5 km in the beautiful Langdale Valley. Surrounded by rugged fells, ancient stone walls and peaceful countryside, it's the perfect opportunity to experience the Lake District as it was meant to be explored, on foot.

Before returning to Manchester, enjoy a final scenic stop in Coniston or another carefully selected Lakeland location chosen by your guide based on the day's weather and conditions, ensuring every tour makes the most of the landscape.

Travelling in a small group creates a relaxed, personal experience with more time to enjoy nature, ask questions and discover places that larger coaches simply can't reach.
