Description
Spend a day in Bucharest the way locals do, moving from hidden bakeries to coffee, stories, and a shared table at a historic inn. Perfect for first-time visitors and curious food lovers.
On this unique journey, guided by a seasoned foodie who happens to be a licensed tour guide, you will explore the most beloved dishes Romania has to offer in the most iconic eateries of Bucharest.
Over the course of a relaxed 4-hour journey through central Bucharest, with generous tasting stops along the way, you will explore the city at an easy pace, guided by its flavours and stories. The experience takes place either in a small, intimate group where conversations flow naturally, or as a private tour for you and your own group. It is designed for first-time visitors and curious food lovers who want to discover Bucharest not only through what they see, but through what they taste and the people they meet.
The journey is designed to mirror a typical day in the life of a local, starting with breakfast, easing into a coffee and cake break, and building toward a hearty lunch; allowing flavours, stories, and conversations to unfold naturally along the way.
The tour starts from a Bucharest institution, a family-owned bakery, hidden away in a forgotten corner of Bucharest, and it continues with a complete journey through the Romanian Culinary Tradition. The journey ends at the restaurant of the oldest still-running inn in Europe, which has served merchants, nobles, and all in between for over 200 years.
Along the way, you will experience a mix of street food, local culinary staples, pies that have stood the test of time, artisan chocolatiers at the very top of their craft, and some of Bucharest’s most respected coffee roasteries. You will taste merdenele (a beloved warm phyllo pastry filled with feta cheese), mici (skinless sausages and a true local BBQ staple), slow-cooked stews and soups, savoury pies, traditional cabbage rolls, artisan chocolates, and wines from family-owned vineyards. Together, these stops create a blend of the old, the new, and the timeless, rooted in tradition, craftsmanship, and genuine local flavour.
Food and beverages are included in the price, so all you have to do is show up with an open mind and an appetite for everything the city's food scene has to offer. In total, we will be trying over 11 dishes, at locations ranging from hidden gems known only to locals to historical places that have shaped Bucharest’s culinary identity.
As we walk between the locations, and while we are enjoying local delicacies, we will share with you the history of The Little Paris, alongside the tales and legends that are the cornerstone of Romania's rich history.
Our last stop on this journey is a traditional Romanian restaurant located inside Europe’s oldest still-running inn. There, you will enjoy some of the most popular and beloved local dishes, cooked the way our grandmas have for generations.
Come hungry, gather around the table, and as the evening winds down, take home new stories to tell and Bucharest a little closer to your heart.
