Canyoning at Sušec is the activity families come back to Bovec for. Your kids will be talking about it for years: the moment they slid down their first waterfall, the jump they weren't sure they'd take, the guide who cheered them on.

Sušec is the most accessible canyon in the Soča Valley and the only one where children from age 8 can participate alongside adults. Everything that might feel intimidating can be bypassed or adjusted. Your guide's job is to read each person in the group and find their version of the experience.

For families who want the canyon entirely to themselves, a private tour option is available. Your guide focuses solely on your group, no waiting for others, no shared briefings, no keeping up with strangers' pace.

This is especially popular for mixed-age groups, younger children doing canyoning for the first time, or families celebrating a special occasion. The route, the activities, and the tempo are shaped around you.

Your adventure begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Bovec. You'll be driven to the canyon entrance, where your guide fits everyone with a wetsuit, helmet, harness, and all safety equipment.

Once geared up, a short safety briefing covers everything you need to know before entering the water.

The descent through Sušec features around 18 slides and jumps, with the highest reaching 7 meters. There are also 4 rappels where a rope guides you down the steeper drops. Every single jump is optional. There is always a way around for anyone who wants to watch rather than leap.

Water levels affect the experience slightly; in lower water, rope techniques are used more. In higher water, the slides get faster and the pools deeper.

The canyon takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours to complete. Small group sizes mean your guide has time for every participant, including the youngest and least confident.

Free photos are taken throughout by your guide, so no one in your family misses being in the pictures.

After the canyon, you change back into dry clothes and return to Bovec.
