Description
Explore Barcelona after dark with a local guide and separate chilling legends from darker truths as you uncover Roman graves, medieval persecution, wartime tragedy, and Gothic Quarter folklore.
Meet your local guide near La Rambla and step into Barcelona's old city after dark.
Begin with ancient Barcino and discover a Roman burial road hidden beneath the modern city. Learn why the dead were buried outside Barcelona's original walls and how today's streets gradually grew over an ancient landscape of tombs.
Continue into El Call, the historic Jewish Quarter. Wander through its narrow medieval lanes while hearing about daily life, religious tension and the violence of 1391 that brought Barcelona's medieval Jewish community to an end.
Then enter the hauntingly quiet Plaça de Sant Felip Neri.
Look closely at the damaged church façade and hear the documented story behind the scars: the devastating bombing of January 1938 during the Spanish Civil War. Discover how real history can sometimes be more disturbing than any ghost story.
Continue through atmospheric lanes toward Plaça del Rei, surrounded by medieval royal architecture. Hear stories of power, religion, fear and superstition and discover how historical events gradually became mixed with legends passed down through generations.
As darkness settles over the Gothic Quarter, your guide will separate documented history from folklore while sharing both.
Finish beside Barcelona's Roman walls, where almost 2,000 years of the city's past remain visible.
Leave with a different question from most ghost tours: which is more unsettling — the legends people invented, or what really happened here?
