Description
Discover another side of the Andes through Moray's terraces, the Maras Salt Mines, and Andean textile traditions. A journey combining history, landscapes, and culture around Cusco.
Discover a route where Andean landscapes, history, and traditions come together. Travel from Cusco to explore Moray, the Maras Salt Mines, and Andean textile traditions, experiencing different expressions of Cusco's culture and landscape in a single journey.
Your experience begins in Cusco, where you will board tourist transportation and head toward the Andean countryside. As you leave the city behind, watch the scenery change into mountains, farmland, and small communities.
The first part of the journey takes you to Moray, one of the region's most distinctive archaeological sites. Admire its characteristic circular terraces built at different levels and enjoy time to explore the site, listen to your guide's explanations, and capture photos of the surrounding landscape.
Continue to the Maras Salt Mines, where numerous salt pools stretch across the mountainside, creating one of the most recognizable landscapes in this part of Cusco. During your visit, observe the salt mines from the designated areas, learn more about the site, and take advantage of the views for photographs.
The journey also offers an introduction to Andean textile traditions. Visit a textile center where you can observe a demonstration related to traditional textiles and discover some of the knowledge behind this cultural expression of the Andes.
Rather than simply connecting different stops, this experience reveals the contrasts of the region: Moray's circular formations, the distinctive landscape of the salt mines, and the colors of Andean textiles. Each stop offers a different perspective on the history, landscapes, and traditions of the region.
After completing the scheduled visits, board your transportation for the return journey to Cusco, ending an experience that brings together archaeology, landscapes, and Andean traditions in one route.
