Depart from Barcelona and head south to Tarragona, the most important port city in southern Catalonia and home to the region’s richest Roman heritage. During the Roman Empire, Tarragona (then known as Tarraco) was the capital of Hispania and governed nearly half of the Iberian Peninsula. Today, its ancient walls, amphitheater, circus, and other monuments are remarkably well preserved.
Upon arrival, visit the [Tarragona Cathedral], Roman ruins, city walls, the open-air theater, and the amphitheater – all part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In the afternoon, continue to Sitges, often called the most beautiful seaside town in Catalonia. Located just 37 km south of Barcelona, Sitges enchants visitors with its rose-colored church perched on a promontory, surrounded by clusters of whitewashed houses. Known as a haven for artists and the wealthy elite, Sitges is also nicknamed the “City of Art.”
Enjoy a relaxing seaside stroll, sunbathe on the beach, and soak up the charm of this Mediterranean gem. Return to Barcelona around 6:00 PM, where the tour concludes.
