Description

Discover the beauty of Blausee and Zermatt on a private day trip from Bern. Enjoy a scenic drive through the Valais Valley, take a panoramic ride on the Gornergrat Railway and explore Zermatt.
Morning Departure from Bern – Toward the Bernese Alps
Your English-speaking Guide will pick you up directly from your hotel in Bern. As the city fades behind you, the road leads south through rolling countryside and quiet valleys that gradually transform into dramatic alpine scenery.

After about an hour, you arrive at Blausee — a small but extraordinary natural gem hidden deep in the forest. Fed by underground glacial springs, the lake glows in unreal shades of turquoise and blue. Enjoy a relaxed walk along the lakeside path, cross the wooden bridge, and pause for a coffee or snack at the lakeside café. The stillness, cool air, and mirror-like reflections offer a peaceful introduction to the Alps.

Midday Drive – Into the Valais Alps
Leaving Blausee, the journey continues deeper into the mountains. The road winds through the Valais Valley, passing terraced vineyards, stone villages, and wide alpine views crowned by snow-covered peaks.

After approximately two and a half hours, you reach Täsch — the last point accessible by car before Zermatt. Your tour includes a round-trip train ticket for the short five-minute ride into Zermatt, the iconic car-free alpine resort beneath the Matterhorn.

Zermatt & Gornergrat Experience
Welcome to Zermatt, where electric vehicles replace cars and the mountain air feels timeless. From near the station begins one of Switzerland’s most celebrated journeys: the Gornergrat Railway.

The historic red train climbs steadily through forests, bridges and glacier landscapes. In about 30 minutes, you reach the Gornergrat summit at 3,089 meters. From here, the Matterhorn rises directly ahead — sharp, silent, and unforgettable.

Spend time exploring the viewing terraces, taking photos, and enjoying the vast panorama of surrounding peaks. You may relax with coffee or lunch at the 3100 Kulmhotel, Europe’s highest hotel, offering views of more than 29 four-thousand-meter summits.

Return by train to Zermatt and enjoy free time along Bahnhofstrasse. Browse boutiques, enjoy Swiss chocolate or espresso, and stop at the Kirchbrücke Bridge for one final photo of the Matterhorn reflected in the river.

Afternoon Return to Bern
After your time in Zermatt, take the short train back to Täsch, where your driver will be waiting. The return drive unfolds through golden alpine valleys, waterfalls, and quiet villages as the light softens.

This private journey brings together Blausee’s stillness, the grandeur of the Valais Alps, and the iconic beauty of the Matterhorn — Switzerland at its purest, experienced in one unforgettable day.
