विवरण
We invite you to the most authentic, most complex, but most real part of Baku. Accompanied by our guide, you will go on a 'treasure hunt,' learn the art of haggling, and discover the city in its most authentic form.
Far from the gleaming glass towers and luxurious shopping streets of modern Baku, there is a place where time flows differently and history awaits on dusty stalls: Sabunçu Flea Market. If you're a “treasure hunter” who's tired of the usual tourist routes, seeks out real life, and loves to connect with history, this experience could be the most unforgettable journey of your life. We invite you to the most raw, most authentic, and most mysterious part of Baku: this vast open-air museum where memories from the crumbling walls of the Soviet Union are gathered.
Our adventure begins at the door of your hotel. We will pick you up and head north of the city to the Sabunchu district. Along the way, your guide will tell you interesting anecdotes about the history of the market, the importance of the area, and the “flea market culture.” You should be prepared for the physical conditions of the market.
When you arrive at the market, you will be greeted by a chaotic yet captivating atmosphere. This place is living history, where everyone from professional antique dealers to elderly people trying to sell their last valuable possession can be found side by side. As you make your way through the labyrinths of the bazaar with your guide, you will discover the following:
Soviet-era memorabilia: Original medals, busts of Lenin and Stalin, vintage military uniforms, and records from the USSR era.
Museum of Technology: Zenit cameras (it's unclear whether they still work), vintage radios, typewriters, and antique clocks.
Culinary and Home Culture: Antique silver spoon sets, handcrafted copper samovars, and traditional Azerbaijani tea sets.
Without a doubt, the most exciting part of this tour is the haggling. All you have to do is like an item! Your guide will break down the language barrier and engage in tough haggling with the seller on your behalf in the local language. Your guide will help you understand the true value of an item and will try to ensure that you buy it at its “local price.” This interactive process will transform the tour from a simple excursion into a “social game.”
