विवरण
A private, unhurried week in western Bhutan with your own licensed guide and driver. Enjoy nature walks, farm life, monastery lunch and Tiger’s Nest. Optional archery and hot stone bath.
This is western Bhutan at a gentle pace, planned and run by a licensed, Bhutanese-owned operator based in Thimphu. You travel privately with your own English-speaking guide and driver. We start by learning what you enjoy, then shape each day around it, with a focus on Bhutan's living culture, traditions and everyday practices.
After two days in the capital, with the giant Buddha Dordenma, the Memorial Chorten and the forest walk to Chari Monastery, we cross Dochula Pass, where you hoist your own prayer flags, into Phobjikha, winter home of the black-necked cranes and a protected Ramsar wetland. Visit Gangtey Goenpa, seat of the Pema Lingpa tradition, and walk the nature trail to Khewang Lhakhang, with optional archery at the hotel that evening. Next morning, share butter tea with a farming family and visit the Crane Centre, then stop at Themakha, a village that still moves with the seasons, and walk through rice fields to Chimi Lhakhang, the fertility temple of the Divine Madman.
In Punakha, hike up to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, filled with the meditational deities of the Vajrakilaya mandala, then share a simple lunch from the monks' kitchen at Chorten Nyingpo. Raft the Mo Chhu if you like, and visit Punakha Dzong, where Bhutan's kings are crowned. On the way to Paro, cross Thangtong Gyalpo's iron bridge at Tachogang, visit Tengchen nunnery, home of Miyo Langzangma, one of the five long-life Tsheringma sisters, and Rinpung Dzong, where Little Buddha was filmed. A whole day is saved for the Tiger's Nest, with Kyichu Lhakhang if time permits and an optional hot stone bath afterwards.
Your price covers 3-star hotels, all meals, your private vehicle and driver, your guide, entrance fees, prayer flags and a farmhouse visit. Optional activities such as archery, the hot stone bath and rafting can be arranged and paid for locally. Bhutan's Sustainable Development Fee and visa fee are government charges paid separately (see What's included).
