Deer Park Entry Ticket Jægersborg Dyrehave (Dyrehaven)

An entry ticket is required to visit Jægersborg Dyrehave. This ticket gives you full access to Denmark’s famous Royal Deer Park, a vast UNESCO-listed landscape just north of Copenhagen. Covering around 1,100–1,200 hectares of ancient woodland, open plains, hills and meadows, the park was created in 1669 as a royal hunting ground by King Frederik III and later expanded by Christian V for parforce hunting. The old village of Stokkerup was cleared to form the wide Eremitagesletten plain that still defines the heart of the park today.

Here you’ll find roughly 2,100 free-roaming deer — mostly fallow deer, along with red deer and sika — grazing under huge oaks and beeches, some more than 800 years old. The deer keep the undergrowth low, creating long open views through the forest that feel almost timeless. At the highest point of the plain stands the Hermitage Palace (Eremitageslottet), the elegant baroque hunting lodge built in the 1730s. The whole area forms part of the Par force hunting landscape in North Zealand, recognised by UNESCO in 2015.

It’s one of the most visited natural places in Denmark — perfect for a long walk, spotting wildlife at dawn or dusk, or simply escaping the city into a landscape that has changed little since the 1600s.

How to Get There:
Take the S-train (line C) to Klampenborg Station. The main red gate is a 2-minute walk from there.

The gates are open and your ticket is not scanned when you enter — but rangers and park staff can (and do) check tickets at any time while you're inside. If you're caught without one, you may be fined or asked to leave.
