Kuching: Bako Wildlife Day Tour

Explore Borneo premier national park on a guided day trip with thrilling boat rides, wildlife encounters, and jungle trekking before returning to Kuching.
TOUR ITINERARY

Your journey begins with a pickup between 7:30–8:00 AM from designated locations in Kuching. Sit back and enjoy a scenic 35–40 minute drive to Bako Jetty, where your adventure officially starts. Upon arrival, our guide will assist with registration before you board a small boat for a thrilling ride to the park headquarters.

The 20-minute boat journey offers breathtaking views of mangrove forests, dramatic coastal cliffs, and iconic rock formations that mark the entrance to Bako National Park. Keep your eyes open there’s a chance to spot crocodiles basking by the riverbanks, sea eagles soaring overhead, and other fascinating shore birds along the way.

By 9:00–9:30 AM, you’ll begin your guided jungle trek with our experienced park guide. Suggested trails include Telok Pandan Kecil, Telok Paku, or Telok Delima, each offering unique perspectives of the rainforest. As you explore, you’ll encounter Bako’s incredible wildlife:

The iconic proboscis monkeys, with around 275 individuals living in the park.

Playful long-tailed macaques and shy silver leaf monkeys.

The impressive bearded wild boar, the park’s largest mammal.

Elusive creatures such as flying squirrels, colugos (flying lemurs), otters, tarsiers, and slow lorises.

A variety of resident and migratory bird species, adding vibrant color and sound to the jungle.

For those with a keen eye, our guide may even help you search for the Green Pit Viper, camouflaged among the leaves a thrilling highlight for nature lovers.

Around 12:30 PM, you’ll embark on a second jungle trail, chosen based on your interest and comfort level. This optional trek allows you to discover different flora, fauna and viewpoints, showcasing the park’s diverse landscapes from dense rainforest to coastal cliffs.

By 2:30–3:00 PM, it’s time to return. You’ll retrace your steps to the boat, enjoy the scenic ride back to Bako Jetty, and then transfer back to Kuching, arriving with unforgettable memories of Bako’s rich biodiversity and natural beauty.

This tour offers a perfect balance of adventure and discovery, combining wildlife encounters, jungle trekking, and breathtaking scenery all within a manageable 6–7 hour experience.

Important: We might not do 2 trails if the guests request or guide decide to hike a longer trail.

TRIP NOTES:

There is no assurance that you will see the park’s animals because they are wild and free.
A Packed Lunch will be provided.
Never feed an animal or engage with one. Allow them to run wild. They become accustomed to being fed, and if they don’t get anything, they may become hostile.
Do Not Swim at Park Beach.
Bring insect repellent, sunscreen, antiseptic.
Boat time and tour duration can be changed due to weather or tidal conditions.
All our tours are operated on the principle that you may be in a small group of other people unless you confirm a private tour with us.
