Here’s a detailed account of my 3-day jeep tour to Ghale Gaun, where the roads were rough but the people, incredibly warm.

We kicked off our journey from Kathmandu early in the morning. The drive to Besisahar took about 6-7 hours, winding through scenic valleys, river gorges, and rice terraces. From Besisahar, the real thrill began — a bumpy, off-road jeep ride climbing steadily toward Ghale Gaun. The road was rough, narrow, and occasionally heart-pounding, but the views? Worth every jolt.

By evening, we were warmly greeted with a traditional Gurung welcome, including garlands and a sip of local rakshi (millet wine). We checked into a homestay, simple yet cozy, with amazing views of Lamjung Himal, Annapurna, and Manaslu.

The villagers are incredibly hospitable and eager to share their culture. The homestay meal—prepared with organic vegetables and local flavors—was a highlight in itself.

Last day After a leisurely breakfast and a few last photos, we hopped back into our jeep and began the descent to Besisahar. While the ride back was just as adventurous, we all carried a deep sense of calm and appreciation for the village and its people.

The Homestay Experience
