This 2-day, 1-night tour to Kakani is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu, offering a tranquil alternative and a true hidden gem compared to popular spots like Nagarkot and Chisapani.
DAY 1: Kathmandu, Scenic Drive & Sunset Views
Your journey begins promptly at 8:00 AM with a private vehicle pick-up from your hotel in Kathmandu. The 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM drive to Kakani (2200m) is a scenic experience, winding through hills where you can observe local life and the famous trout fish farms along the way.
Upon arrival in Kakani at 10:00 AM, we will take a brief break before commencing our trek. From 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM, we embark on a gentle 2.5-hour trek from Kakani towards Suryachaur. This walk guides you through peaceful forests, offering glimpses of the Langtang range.
We arrive at our accommodation around 1:00 PM for a traditional local lunch and check-in. The afternoon is yours for relaxation or local exploration: you may visit the solemn Memorial Park or walk through the nearby strawberry crops (seasonal). As evening approaches, we prepare for the day's climax: the majestic sunset. A traditional dinner is served, followed by an overnight stay at the cozy local guesthouse.
DAY 2: Magical Sunrise, Morning Walk to Kakani Hill & Return
The second day begins before dawn to capture the most spectacular moment: the Sunrise Views over the Himalayas. The clear morning air often provides the crispest, most rewarding views of the entire range, including Manaslu (8,163 m), Ganesh Himal (7,422 m), Annapurna (8,091 m), and Langtang (7,234 m)
After the breathtaking show, we enjoy a nutritious breakfast at 7:30 AM. At 9:00 AM, we begin our final 2-hour morning walk around Kakani Hill. This light trek explores various forest trails and local viewpoints, offering a final dose of mountain tranquility. We return to the guesthouse around 11:00 AM for check-out.
Our return journey begins at 11:00 AM with the private vehicle transfer back to Kathmandu. We aim to arrive back in the city center around 1:00 PM, concluding your unforgettable Himalayan escape.

Kakani sits at 2,200 meters (7,218 ft). The trekking is easy and suitable for people with basic fitness. It is not high-altitude trekking, but a reasonable fitness level is required for the 2.5 hike.
Weather & Visibility: Himalayan views are weather-dependent. The best views are typically found during the clear seasons (September to November and March to May). Winter mornings can be extremely clear but very cold. Monsoon season (June-August) often limits visibility. Generally views are better at sunrise.
Clothing: Please pack layers of clothing, as the temperature difference between day and night is significant.
Accommodation: This is a local cultural experience. Accommodation is provided in a traditional, clean local guesthouse (teahouse style), not a luxury hotel.
