This two-day mountain tour offers an incredible adventure through the Southern Volcanic Range of Peru, starting from Arequipa. On the first day, the journey begins early with a 4x4 ride to the trailhead at about 3,400 meters above sea level. After a short period to adapt to the altitude, the ascent starts, leading to the Base Camp “Pirámide” located at 4,610 meters. Once there, the camp is set up, dinner is served, and the group spends the night resting for the big climb ahead.

The second day starts with an early breakfast, followed by the summit ascent. Along the way, participants enjoy snacks and the stunning views that the mountain offers. The goal is to reach the summit before midday to fully appreciate the spectacular panorama of the Southern Volcanic Mountain Range of Peru. After taking in the views, the group descends back to Base Camp, packs up, and continues the descent to the vehicle for the return trip to Arequipa, arriving by afternoon.

The tour includes a professional UIAGM-certified mountain guide, 4x4 transportation, and all necessary camping gear such as two-person tents, sleeping bags, crampons, ice axes, and warm clothing like jackets, pants, gloves, and hats. Meals are provided for one dinner and one breakfast, with vegetarian options available. Safety is a priority, with first aid kits, radios, satellite phones, and oxygen supplied in the vehicle.

Participants are expected to bring their own personal equipment including sunglasses, trekking poles, headlamps, boots, and backpacks, as these are not included in the service. Snacks and drinking water are also the responsibility of the client, with a recommended supply of 5 liters per person. An optional porter service is available for those who wish to lighten their load.

It’s important to note that the lead guide coordinates with assistants or porters to ensure no one travels alone if they decide to return early to Base Camp due to fatigue or other reasons. On summit day, clients must carry their personal gear. Porters, if hired, only carry shared gear such as tents, food, and water on the first day. Any early return to Arequipa outside the planned itinerary will be at the client’s expense. Changes in the schedule due to weather or physical condition are beyond the organization’s responsibility according to Peruvian mountain guide regulations.
