Embark on a 4-day trek along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Follow the legendary trail of the Incas, winding through the amazing scenery of the Peruvian Andes, past centuries-old sites.
Embark on a 4-day Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu, one of the most famous trekking routes in the world.

Day 1: Begin the Inca Trail
Start your day early with a hotel pickup and a scenic 2-hour drive to Ollantaytambo. Here you will meet our trek team and continue to Piscacucho (Km 82), where the Inca Trail began.

At the control point, show your Inca Trail permit and your passport. Once you cross the Piscacucho Bridge over the Urubamba River, start the Inca Trail trek. Walk on flat terrain along the river's shore, following the valley until you reach Miskay, a small community.

The spectacular view of the Inca site of Llactapata will reward your efforts as you continue on a steeper path toward a high plateau.
After lunch, trek for another 2.5 hours or so until you reach the first campsite in the Wayllabamba.

Day 2: Hardest day on the Inca Trail trek
Go at your own pace on the second day, which is the most rigorous and highest-altitude part of the Classic Inca Trail. Before you start hiking, have breakfast.
The trail zigzags up from the moderate temperatures of the cloud forest into the arid and cold high plains, reaching the high Dead Woman's Pass at 13,831 feet (4,215 m). Take in breathtaking views of the mountain chains.

Once you cross the pass, a winding path of steps descends steeply across a valley to Pacaymayo Bajo, where your next campsite is located.

Day 3: Unique and amazing Inca trail adventure
After breakfast, the Inca Trail continues along some path rich with archeological treasures. Halfway along the steep trail up to Runcurakay Pass, you will encounter the Inca archeological site of Runcurakay (tambo or lodge). Another steep climb up Incan steps leads to the pass summit, which offers spectacular views of the mountain ranges of Veronika.

Continue on to the lakes of Comercocha and Sayacmarqa. Aptly dubbed the “Inaccessible Town,” Sayacmarqa is an intriguing set of structures located on a cliff. Continuing on, pass Conchamarka, a small, flat archaeological complex. Then the trail ascends again, and you come to a 65-foot (20-meter) long tunnel with steps carved out of the rock. Continuing the ascent, reach Pass Phuyupatamarka, the third and final mountain pass of the trek. Afterwards, the hike continues downhill, leading to the archaeological site of Phuyupatamarka, “Town over the Clouds.”

As the day ends, head toward the ruins of Wiñay Wayna, or “Forever Young,” where you will camp for your final night.

Day 4: Inca Trail to Machu Picchu
After a very early start with breakfast, set out on the final leg of the Classic Inca trail to reach Inti Punku, the Sun Gate entrance to Machu Picchu citadel, for sunrise. From the Sun Gate, descend to the citadel for a guided tour of Machu Picchu. Appreciate the intricate stonework that seems to rise from the mountain itself.

At the end, board the shuttle bus down to Aguas Calientes train station for your return to Ollantaytambo. Finally, a representative will take you back to Cusco.
