Lake Titicaca: Uros and Taquile Islands Tour Itinerary

We will start with the pick up from the hotels in the center of Puno, and then we will be transferred to the port. Once there, we will embark to begin our journey to the Uros Island, with a tour of approximately 30 minutes, during which we will enjoy panoramic views of Lake Titicaca.

Upon arrival, we will be greeted by the locals, dressed in their traditional attire. We will notice how the islands float on the waters and settle down to listen to the tour guide, who will explain how these islands originated, the materials used for their construction and how their inhabitants live. Afterwards, we will have time to take pictures and explore the local houses.

Optionally, we can visit a second island in totora reed rafts (S/. 10.00 additional), where we can taste typical dishes and buy handicrafts.

We will continue our journey, with a 2-hour trip across the lake to the island of Taquile. Upon arrival, we will begin a 40-minute walk uphill to the main square. There, we will visit the textile museum, the colonial church and other points of interest.

Then, we will enjoy a typical lunch, which includes quinoa soup as a starter and trout as a main dish, accompanied by a traditional drink such as mate de coca or muña, ideal to combat the effects of altitude sickness. Our tour guide will tell us about the history of the island, its customs and textile production.

We will have free time to take pictures before starting the descent to the port, where we will board the boat to return to the starting point of the tour, a unique experience that connects us with the traditions and nature of Lake Titicaca!
