Located in Zhijin County, the cave is part of a remarkable karst landscape and is known for both its immense scale and extraordinary variety of geological formations. Its vast chambers and dramatic illuminated scenery make it one of Guizhou’s most impressive natural attractions.
Begin your visit at the visitor center and take the included sightseeing shuttle toward the cave area. From there, continue to the entrance and begin the approximately 6.6-kilometer underground sightseeing route.
The cave follows a one-way route, taking you progressively deeper through a series of impressive chambers. Along the way, discover famous formations and areas including the Welcome Hall, Lecture Hall, Pagoda Forest, Wanshou Palace, Lingxiao Hall, and Guanghan Palace.
Continue deeper into the cave to encounter some of its most recognizable natural formations. See the enormous Overlord Helmet, a towering stalagmite whose shape resembles an ancient Chinese warrior’s helmet.
Walk through the immense underground landscape known as the Hundred Thousand Mountains, where clusters of stone formations resemble a mountain range hidden beneath the earth.
Another highlight is the Silver Rain Tree, one of Zhijin Cave’s signature formations. Its intricate shape and pale surface make it one of the most distinctive geological sights along the route.
Take your time to appreciate the scale of the caverns, reflections on underground pools, illuminated rock formations, and the incredible variety created by water and limestone over an immense period of time.
The cave route generally takes around 2.5–3.5 hours, depending on your walking pace and the amount of time spent taking photographs. The route includes numerous stairs, slopes, and wet sections.
Inside the cave, temperatures generally remain around 14–16°C throughout the year. Even during summer, a light jacket or long-sleeved layer is recommended.
After completing the one-way underground route, exit the cave and use the sightseeing shuttle to return toward the visitor center.
