In the heart of Montevideo, there's a place where time seems to stand still: the National Hat Factory, founded in 1912. With over 110 years of history and five generations dedicated to the art of hatmaking. This factory is much more than a workshop: it's a living time capsule, where every corner tells a story and every hat reflects a passion for the craft.
During the tour, you'll have the unique opportunity to see how hats are made using exactly the same techniques and tools as in the early 20th century. There's no modern technology or automation: everything is done by hand, with dedication and artisan precision, just like over a century ago.
The tour also includes a demonstration of the complete process of making a wool beret, from the raw material to the finished product, showing the dedication and mastery of those who keep this tradition alive.
The experience culminates in a mini museum, where hats from different eras and styles are on display, exact replicas of those worn by historical figures and celebrities from around the world. It's a chance to connect with history, fashion, and culture.

We'll be waiting for you 15 minutes before at the factory's address: Juan Rosas 4123, on the corner of Santa Ana. It's a yellow building with gray doors.
