Re-energized, drive to the base station of the Tianmen Mountain Cableway. This is no ordinary cable car; it's a 7.5 km journey from the city center right to the summit, offering unbelievable views the entire way.

At the top, your guide will lead you on the famous "Ghost Valley" plank road, a path bolted onto the side of the sheer cliff. The views are simply majestic. Navigate the route to ensure you see the best vistas with ample time for photos. Then, take a series of escalators (built inside the mountain!) down to the mid-level station to see the world-renowned Tianmen Cave. This massive natural arch is a symbol of Zhangjiajie.

See the 999 steps leading up to the cave entrance—a breathtaking sight. Choose to walk down the steps or view them from a platform. As darkness falls, the magic begins. The mountain face and the Tianmen Cave are illuminated by a magnificent light and laser show. The show tells a story through light projections against the natural backdrop, with music and colors bringing the mountain to life.
