Start your day by boarding a comfortable bus in Surfers Paradise and head south over the border into New South Wales. Enjoy ocean and hinterland views along the way.
Cross the QLD/NSW border at Tweed Heads. Keep an eye on your phone clock—during daylight saving months (October to April), you will instantly "lose" an hour as you enter New South Wales.
Arrive in Byron Bay and get dropped off at the Butler Street Bus Interchange, Stand D. Spend 5 hours exploring Byron Bay at your own pace. Walk the Cape Byron Lighthouse loop for 360-degree views, look out for dolphins (and whales in season), swim at Main Beach or Wategos, shop the laneways, or try the cafés, bars, and restaurants.
In the afternoon, board the Byron Bay Express for the trip back. You’ll be on the Gold Coast by about 5:35 PM.
