Begin your day exploring the vibrant coastal city of Durrës, with its Roman amphitheater, bustling promenade, and seaside charm. Then journey south to the historic town of Gjirokastër, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where scenic horseback rides through the Drino Valley meet centuries-old castles, museums, and traditional Ottoman streets.
Day 1: Durrës & Arrival in Gjirokastër
Get picked up in Tirana or Durrës in the early morning. Spend the morning in Durrës, exploring the Adriatic coast, visiting the ancient Roman Amphitheater, strolling along the promenade, and enjoying a local coffee or seafood snack.
Depart for Gjirokastër (approx. 4.5–5 hours), with a scenic stop or lunch break en route. Check in to a traditional stone guesthouse in Gjirokastër Old Town. In the evening, enjoy an optional sunset stroll through the Ottoman bazaar or a local cooking class with your hosts.
Day 2: Horseback Riding & Cultural Tour
In the morning, enjoy a beginner-friendly horseback ride through the Drino Valley and historic merchant paths, with panoramic views. Take an optional short quad bike (4x4 buggy) adventure through nearby trails and historic bunkers.
In the afternoon, visit Gjirokastër Castle, Skendulaj House, and the Ethnographic Museum. Stroll through the old town, enjoy local food, and browse for crafts. In the late afternoon, return to Tirana or Durrës.
