Descrizione
Explore Plovdiv's rich history on a guided tour. Visit the Roman Forum, Ancient Theatre, and the Old Town. Then, head to a Bulgarian village and learn to make a traditional pastry.
Discover the perfect blend of history, culture, and tradition with this full-day journey in and around Plovdiv—one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Europe.
Your day begins with a guided walking tour through the heart of Plovdiv. Wander the charming cobblestone streets of the Old Town, where beautifully preserved Revival houses tell stories from centuries past. Visit the impressive Ancient Theatre, still used today, and enjoy panoramic views over the city. Continue through the creative Kapana district, known for its vibrant atmosphere, small galleries, and local artisan shops. Along the way, your guide will share fascinating insights into the city’s layered history—from Thracian times to the Roman and Ottoman periods.
After exploring the city, we leave the urban rhythm behind and head to a small, authentic village nearby, where a completely different pace of life awaits.
You’ll be warmly welcomed into the home of Tatyana, a gracious local host who will introduce you to the true spirit of Bulgarian village life. Surrounded by nature and simplicity, her home offers a genuine and heartfelt experience.
We’ll start with a walk through her garden, where you’ll discover how seasonal vegetables are grown using traditional methods. Depending on the season, you can take part in the experience—plant a vegetable, harvest fresh produce, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Everything you gather may later become part of your meal.
As part of your welcome, you’ll enjoy a refreshing cup of homemade juice prepared from elderflower (бъз) or another local seasonal plant—an authentic taste of Bulgarian countryside hospitality.
The experience continues with a hands-on cooking session. Together with Tatyana, you’ll prepare a traditional Bulgarian pastry using local ingredients and time-honored techniques. The dish will be baked over an open fire in a clay vessel known as a “sach,” giving it a unique, rich, and smoky flavor.
Finally, sit down and enjoy the meal you’ve helped create—fresh, homemade, and shared in great company.
This tour is more than sightseeing—it’s a journey through Bulgaria’s past and present. From the ancient streets of Plovdiv to the warmth of village hospitality, you’ll experience the country in a truly authentic and unforgettable way.
