Descrizione

The southern summer is here. We'll stroll through downtown Buenos Aires as the sun sets. Avenida de Mayo, from the Congress, photos at the Christmas Obelisk to the majestic Colón Theater lit up at night.
Summer's coming to the southern hemisphere. Let's take a unique walk, just as the setting sun tinges the sky and the streetlights of the great avenues come on, transforming downtown Buenos Aires into a capital with a European feel under the stars.

In almost two hours, we'll go from political sobriety to artistic opulence, with many stops full of history and architecture:

Our walk starts at the civic epicenter, in front of the National Congress. From there, we'll step back in time to admire the iconic Confitería del Molino. This Art Nouveau emblem was known as "The Third Chamber," where politics mingled with tango, literature, and the agreements of the Belle Époque. Confitería del Molino, with its dramatic history and restored splendor, is a living testimony to a dreamlike Argentina.

Then, we'll stroll along the majestic Avenida de Mayo, the first grand avenue in South America, a melting pot of styles reminiscent of Madrid and Paris.

We'll stop in front of the enigmatic Palacio Barolo, an architectural gem that's actually a monument to literature: its design is entirely inspired by the work of Dante Alighieri.

The tour wraps up on the city's main artery, the gigantic Avenida 9 de Julio. Here, the modern pulse of Buenos Aires beats strong. Night will fall, and the cityscape will give us the most iconic postcard: the illuminated Obelisk. A perfect place to capture the city's essence, especially with its Christmas lights and decorations.

We'll finish at the most glamorous spot. The Teatro Colón, one of the five best opera houses in the world, will be waiting for us, lit up at night, showing off its imposing and majestic façade.

INFORMAZIONI IMPORTANTI
Physical Demand and Hydration: The general demand is low, but the summer heat calls for good hydration.
Punctuality ("Latin Time"): To ensure everyone joins, the official departure is 10 minutes after the meeting time. Stop times are estimated and flexible. Consider a margin of about 30 minutes for the end time when scheduling your next activities.
The meeting point: Since our tour starts in front of Congress, we may find demonstrations or protests in the vicinity. We'll be at a nerve center of Argentine democracy, where citizens express their stance on the laws being discussed. If this happens, stay calm and collected; this is part of the city's usual dynamic. Just stick with the group and follow the guide's instructions to enjoy this 'living history' experience safely.
We'll meet on the Plaza del Congreso esplanade, in front of the Monumento aos Dois Congressos (the largest monument in the square). This square is in front of the National Congress building. I'll be wearing a light blue shirt and an orange cap/beret. I'll be wearing prescription glasses that darken in the sun (they look like sunglasses).
